About Us
Welcome to La Familia Senior Community Center, a home away from home for our beloved seniors.

Serving Wichita Since 1989
La Familia Senior Community Center has been a beacon of support for the elderly community, especially Hispanics aged 55 and older. With a rich history that spans 33 years, our center comprises various programs such as the Senior Center Program, API (Food program), and several community activities. We have forged strong and consistent partnerships with organizations like Evergreen Partners Project, El Pueblo, MECA, United Christian Women’s Association, and WIN. From health screenings to cultural activities, we’re dedicated to assisting the social and cultural needs of our elderly.
Our members, now totaling 485, enjoy a variety of daily activities like food distribution for the underserved (60 and older), exercise classes, sports, and board games. We also offer space for conversation, pool, and more games from 8 AM to 5 PM. Rentals and special events like Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day are part of our vibrant offerings. Financial stability, staff dedication, and volunteer participation underscore our commitment to excellence.
The last two years have been a challenge, yet our resilience has seen us move to hybrid arrangements to stay connected with members. Implementing social distancing measures, we’ve successfully managed the health risks associated with Covid. Our building maintenance, expansion plans, staff training, and community events demonstrate our continued dedication to providing the best for our members. Our various grants, such as Governor’s Grant for Covid vaccination education, and partnerships with schools signify our drive for innovation and improvement.
Special events like holidays, potlucks, speakers, and historic celebrations are a testament to our community spirit. The recent drive-through Christmas event, with an estimated participation of 1080, is a bright example of our creativity during the pandemic. Regular meetings with partners and continuous program improvements keep us aligned with our mission.
Whether you’re interested in joining our family or just exploring what we have to offer, La Familia Senior Community Center is here for you. Together, we build connections, foster wellness, and celebrate life.
Feel free to reach out to us for any questions, or stop by and experience our welcoming community!
